Wood burners in Oxfordshire

I have lived in a village in the Oxfordshire (UK) countryside for almost 20 years. Since I moved here, several wood-burners have been installed in neighbouring houses and now, instead of relatively clean air, we have acrid fumes polluting our air especially in cold weather. There are no laws against (or even limiting) this pollution and, though my MP has shown some concern, the government appears to consider these filthy stoves in a positive light on the grounds of sustainability.
